Chapter 507
"Grandfather Alistair," Olivia approached softly. "Now that you're here with us, we'll make sure you're well taken care of. No one will harm Seraphina, but you must remain here."
The thinly veiled warning wasn't lost on Seraphina. Her expression darkened instantly. "What exactly are you implying, Olivia? Is that a threat? If you want him to forget you forever, go ahead. I've already lost everything—I just want to make sure your life isn't comfortable either."
Olivia's brows knitted tightly. What a venomous woman! she thought bitterly. Now that Seraphina had nothing left to lose, she was unpredictable.
Taking a deep breath, Olivia spoke carefully. "What do you want? If your demands are reasonable, I'll do my best to meet them."
Seraphina's demeanor shifted, and she settled onto the sofa with deliberate grace. Alistair immediately moved closer to her, his wary eyes darting around. The sight made Olivia's chest tighten.
Crossing her legs, Seraphina smirked. "Announce to the world that I'm your god-sister and that I'll be living with you from now on. As long as you support me for life, I promise I won't cause any trouble."
Before Olivia could respond, Winston quickly pulled her aside. He shook his head urgently. "Don't agree to this. She's malicious, and having her here will only bring chaos. Think carefully. Tomorrow, I'll inform Mr. Donovan Kensington. He'll take your grandfather back and deal with her properly—no more problems."
Olivia shook her head. "That's not an option."
Lately, Donovan hadn't been reaching out as frequently as before. Though he hadn't explained why, Olivia had her own sources within the Kensington family. The household was in turmoil—Frederick's branch had seized the opportunity to claim assets from Donovan's side while Alistair was absent.
Frederick's family seemed to have uncovered a mistake Donovan had made—one that could ruin him if exposed. The internal strife in the Kensington family had consumed Donovan and Reginald's attention. They had too much to handle, and retrieving Alistair and Seraphina wasn't a priority.
Olivia decided to handle this herself. After a moment of thought, she turned to Winston. "Every time Grandfather has an episode, he regains clarity briefly. Let's observe him to understand why he's acting so strangely now. Keep an eye on Seraphina—fulfill her needs without provoking her. Be patient. We'll find something."
Winston's eyes shimmered with gratitude. "Miss, your consideration for the Kensington family is deeply moving."
Gazing at Olivia, he added softly, "Miss, your grandfather might remember himself when his mind clears again." Olivia didn't respond, merely giving him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. The tension eased slightly after her words, and Seraphina stopped her provocations.
After arranging for someone to escort Alistair to rest, Olivia noticed Seraphina still lounging on the sofa, a faint smile playing on her lips. Wanting to avoid further conflict, Olivia turned to head upstairs.
Suddenly, Seraphina moved swiftly, blocking her path. "Are you angry with me? Hard to believe the tables have turned, isn't it? Despite my humble background, I'm clever—I know how to seize every opportunity. Maybe that's why you're jealous of me."
"Seriously?" Olivia crossed her arms, arching a brow. "Why would I waste energy feeling jealous of someone like you? Have you really earned that?" Seraphina's smirk faltered as she realized Olivia wasn't as passive as she'd assumed.
"Move," Olivia commanded firmly.
