Chapter 143

Olivia's entire body throbbed with pain as consciousness returned.

The hospital room was empty except for a few nurses attending to her. Liam was conspicuously absent.

One nurse noticed Olivia's awakening and rushed to her side. "Miss Sinclair, you must remain still. Your baby is perfectly safe. You're extremely lucky - the accident didn't harm your child at all."

Confusion swirled through Olivia's mind.

The mention of her baby and the realization that Liam had brought her to the hospital sent panic coursing through her veins.

She began gesturing frantically, demanding to know Liam's whereabouts.

Fortunately, the nurses Liam had assigned were proficient in sign language. "Mr. Blackwood had urgent business to attend to," one explained calmly.

A cold dread settled in Olivia's stomach. This wasn't a nightmare. Liam had indeed brought her to the hospital, which meant he knew about her pregnancy.

She'd always known this moment would come, but not so soon. Emotionally unprepared, she wondered about Liam's reaction. His absence spoke louder than words.

Overcome with anxiety, Olivia threw off the blankets and attempted to leave. The nurses immediately restrained her.

"Miss Sinclair, this is serious," one said sternly. "You're in no condition to be moving. You need complete bed rest."

Olivia's face paled as her terrified eyes darted around the unfamiliar environment. Too much had happened too quickly. Her nerves were frayed, and she desperately needed to escape to safety. She was exhausted from being at others' mercy.

The thought of Liam forcing her to terminate the pregnancy was unbearable. What power did she have against him?

In desperation, Olivia grabbed her IV line, threatening to rip it out.

The nurses gasped in shock.

Tears streamed down Olivia's face as she signed with fierce determination, demanding to be released.

But even after leaving the ward, escaping the hospital proved impossible. She was sedated and returned to her room.

This time, she found herself alone.

As the nurses filed out, Olivia heard the ominous click of the lock.

Despair overwhelmed her. She felt like a caged bird.

"That's essentially what happened, Mr. Blackwood," Sebastian reported. "But I assure you, no harm came to her. While sedated, the doctors conducted thorough examinations. Aside from emotional distress, she's perfectly healthy."

Liam's expression darkened. "She woke up and immediately tried to flee?"

"Yes," Sebastian confirmed. "Her first question was whether you'd brought her here. It seems she still cares for you. Her current behavior likely stems from fear. Perhaps—"

Sebastian hesitated, studying Liam's mood before continuing, "Perhaps your presence might comfort her."

Liam scoffed. "She knows I brought her here, yet she's desperate to leave, risking her health. Do you truly believe my presence would bring her comfort?"

Sebastian fell silent.

Liam's face hardened. "Haven't I made it clear I want no reports about her? I fulfilled my obligation by getting her medical care. She's obsessed with divorcing me and didn't even consider asking for my help when captured and bullied. Why should I care about her now?"

Sebastian sighed quietly, knowing Liam's words were hollow. "The doctor mentioned needing to discuss something important regarding her condition. Should I arrange—"

"Enough!" Liam cut him off sharply. "I don't want to hear another word about Olivia. Is that clear?"

"Crystal," Sebastian replied, frustration evident in his tone.

Liam had left shortly after bringing Olivia to the hospital. Though his actions suggested indifference, his earlier instruction for the doctor to keep Sebastian informed betrayed his true concern.

Exasperation washed over Sebastian. The stubbornness of both Liam and Olivia was maddening.

Olivia slept through the day and night. When she awoke, she felt significantly better.

Her attitude had shifted. She became cooperative, diligently following her treatment plan and taking meals and medications on schedule.

Determined, Olivia resolved to prioritize her health regardless of Liam's intentions about their future or the baby. Her well-being came first.

During quiet moments, Olivia's gaze would drift to the window, lost in thought.

The world outside appeared calm, but inside Olivia, uncertainty gnawed at her.

Then she spotted a familiar figure entering the hospital. Her heart pounded.

It was Liam.

Olivia jumped to her feet. Regardless of Liam's thoughts, she needed answers.

She rushed to the door and banged on it urgently. It soon opened to reveal the same group of nurses. "Do you need something? We can assist with anything except discharge requests."

Olivia shook her head, signing frantically that she'd seen Liam and needed to speak with him.

The nurses exchanged uncertain glances before finally nodding.

Soon, a message arrived. Liam had agreed to meet. He instructed Olivia to wait in her room until someone escorted her to the doctor's office.

With thirty minutes until the appointment, Olivia's impatience grew. She signed that her matter was urgent and requested to go immediately.

The nurse, unable to dissuade her, relented. They arrived at the medical center just as Liam was deep in conversation with the doctor.

Olivia reached for the door handle but paused, deciding to wait.

The heated argument inside was impossible to ignore.

"Are you absolutely certain she's pregnant?" Liam's voice carried clearly.

"Yes, the tests confirm it," the doctor replied. "Mr. Blackwood, how do you wish to proceed?"

"If she wants to stay, she'll have to terminate the pregnancy," Liam stated firmly.

Olivia's heart plummeted. A chill ran through her veins as she staggered slightly, struggling to maintain composure.

From Olivia's perspective, Liam was taking the easy way out, shirking responsibility by suggesting abortion.

Her hand instinctively moved to her stomach as fierce determination flooded her being. She would never give up her child so easily.
