Chapter 436

"Seriously?" Evelyn tilted her chin up, studying the masked Liam with envy flashing in her eyes. "You heard him yourself. He just called Olivia his fiancée. Why would a man of his status pick someone like her? Even if it was pure chance, he could easily handle such minor issues. Why go through all this trouble?"

Sebastian shared her confusion. Having lost contact with Olivia recently, he was completely in the dark about the details. All he could do was worry and try to dissuade Evelyn from targeting Olivia.

At his wit's end, Sebastian blurted out the harshest words he could think of. "Evelyn, I swear if you keep this up, I won't marry you even if my grandfather disowns me."

Evelyn's expression flickered. Her hands clenched into fists on her knees, knuckles turning white. After a long, tense silence, she gave a bitter, mocking smile. "Fine. If you don't want me, someone else will. You're not the only eligible man in the Whitmore family."

Sebastian stared at Evelyn, stunned. She had seemed so devoted to him all this time. But now the truth was clear. All she cared about was status and power. She wanted a comfortable life, and it didn't matter who provided it.

That was exactly Evelyn's perspective now. After Liam used and discarded her, she realized love was meaningless and brought no benefits.

"Then we're done here." Sebastian composed himself, gave Evelyn one final icy look, and walked away.

Evelyn's fingers twitched. For a fleeting moment, she wanted to chase after him. But then the fury and resentment surged back, freezing her in place.

Meanwhile, the excruciating pain finally subsided, leaving Olivia exhausted and gasping for breath. This was the fifth attack today. Strangely, she felt slightly better afterward. Olivia lay still for ten minutes, gradually regaining some strength.

Just then, little Isabelle wobbled in, struggling to carry a basin of warm water. "Mommy, let me wipe your sweat," she chirped, tiny hands straining to keep the basin steady. Her earnestness was adorable yet heartbreaking.

Olivia's chest tightened. "Sweetheart, why don't you let the maids do that? You're too small."

Isabelle shook her head stubbornly. "But love is in the water! Mommy, if you use it, you'll heal faster!"

After freshening up, Olivia felt remarkably better. The pain had vanished completely. Was this improvement or something more ominous? She couldn't tell.

Feeling slightly stronger, Olivia managed to shower and change into fresh clothes. Isabelle danced around her mother, giggling with delight at seeing her up again.

During this cheerful chaos, Olivia suddenly thought of Liam. "Where's Liam?" she asked casually. "What's he been doing?"

The butler cleared his throat awkwardly. "I'm not entirely certain, madam. He left earlier. He did mention you shouldn't contact him unless it's urgent. Said he might be quite occupied."

Olivia nodded, deciding not to press further. As she recovered at home, she tried piecing together what had happened before she lost consciousness. Now feeling stronger, she was determined to get answers.

Olivia reached for her phone and saw breaking news. She opened it to find a live recording of Liam's press conference. She had no idea what it was about.
