Chapter 475
The staff member's chest swelled with pride as he answered, "These are our standard daily care procedures we never neglect."
Olivia's gaze traveled over the emaciated, undernourished elderly residents, her lips curling in silent contempt. Yet she kept her mask of pleasantry firmly in place.
"Moreover, I must commend the remarkable tranquility of your facility. Not a single disturbance. The residents seem to coexist harmoniously, wouldn't you agree?"
"Without question," the staff member beamed. "We enforce strict regulations that everyone follows religiously."
"And what consequences await those who violate these rules?"
"Rule-breakers face immediate disciplinary measures," the staff member stated firmly.
Suddenly flustered, he hastily amended, "I mean verbal warnings, of course. Just verbal reprimands."
"Ah, I understand," Olivia nodded, a knowing glint flashing in her eyes.
Just then, Margaret marched over, barely containing her irritation. "Satisfied? The person you're seeking isn't here. Please leave now before you disturb our residents' rest period."
Olivia gave a polite nod and followed Margaret out of the welfare home.
Watching the departing vehicles shrink in her rearview mirror, Margaret exhaled in relief. Rather than driving Olivia back to the city center, she abruptly pulled over at a remote countryside location.
"My apologies," Margaret said, eyes glinting with malice. "Urgent matters require my attention. You'll have to manage from here." The deserted rural road offered no taxis for miles.
Olivia recognized the deliberate snub. Unshaken, she handed Margaret a sealed document.
Margaret unfolded it with a scowl that morphed into shock as she read.
Olivia allowed herself a small smile. "I nearly forgot my primary purpose for visiting today. This is a court summons, Miss Sinclair. I've filed a lawsuit against you. I'd advise consulting your attorney and ensuring your punctual appearance."
Margaret's fingers crushed the document edges. "You dare? This is your company's blunder, not mine! Who do you think you are? I won't dignify this with my presence - I'm completely innocent!"
"The courts will determine innocence," Olivia countered calmly. "You pride yourself on justice. Does the prospect of defending yourself frighten you?"
Margaret's eyes blazed with fury. With a final glare, she slammed the car window shut and barked, "Drive!"
The vehicle screeched away, leaving Olivia standing in a cloud of dust. Moments later, another car pulled up smoothly before her.
Behind the wheel sat Evelyn, navigating effortlessly despite her slight limp.
It had been ages since Evelyn ventured outdoors, and nervousness tinged her voice. "Miss Kensington, should I wear a disguise? If someone recognizes me with you, it might cause complications."
