Chapter 184
The man sneered, "The moment we stepped inside, you started stripping to seduce me. I'd had a few drinks, sure, but that doesn't excuse your behavior! You need to explain this to my wife!"
The woman spat back venomously. "You might have the face of an angel, but your soul is rotten. Are you that desperate for male attention? Disgusting!"
A mocking laugh erupted from the spectators. "Haven't you heard? This one's getting divorced. Probably can't stand being alone at night."
Olivia ignored the taunts and quickly assessed her situation. Her dress was wrinkled, but her underwear remained undisturbed.
She recalled checking her watch before blacking out. Only seven or eight minutes had passed - not enough time for anything substantial to occur.
Relief washed over her as clarity returned. The hostile stares surrounding her confirmed one thing: this was a setup.
With steady fingers, Olivia typed on her phone: "I don't know you. Someone drugged me. We should call the police to investigate."
Before she could finish, Evelyn's shrill voice cut through the air. "Olivia! Are you seriously accusing me now? After what you pulled at my birthday? I was being gracious inviting you, and this is how you repay me?"
Tears streamed down Evelyn's cheeks as she continued her performance. "You're determined to ruin everything, aren't you?"
In one swift motion, a bystander snatched Olivia's phone and smashed it against the floor. "Think you're clever? No one's buying your innocent act, you little slut!"
The destruction of her phone severed Olivia's last connection to the outside world.
Worse still, nobody in the room understood sign language, leaving her completely isolated.
Evelyn seized the opportunity. "Her silence speaks volumes, doesn't it? Everyone, take a good look at this scheming witch!"
The crowd's murmurs grew louder.
"She's too beautiful to need that ugly man. This doesn't add up."
"Don't be naive. Some women are just born shameless."
"With Liam divorcing her and cutting her off, she's desperate. First Alexander, then Daniel - when they got bored, she had to lower her standards."
"Disgusting. I'm posting her pictures everywhere."
Each cruel word struck Olivia like a physical blow.
The comments grew increasingly vulgar.
"A mute girl must have interesting... techniques. I'd pay to find out."
"Wonder what she charges per night?"
"With these photos, we might not need to pay at all."
Their predatory gazes made Olivia's skin crawl. She tried desperately to communicate through sign language that this was all a setup.
Her efforts only provoked more laughter.
"Look at her flailing hands! Pathetic."
"No wonder Liam wants out. Can't even have a proper argument."
"This is getting entertaining. Let's see how far we can push her."
Evelyn cleared her throat dramatically. "Liam's divorcing her, but she's demanding half his fortune. Everyone knows Olivia was adopted by the Winslows. Without them, she'd be nothing. Yet she repays their kindness with greed."
She paused for effect. "I'm having my lawyers assist Liam. This evidence of infidelity is irrefutable. Support us, and both the Winslow and Hartley families will remember your loyalty."
The mention of favors from powerful families changed the atmosphere instantly. Greed flickered in many eyes.
Noticing the shift, Evelyn smirked. "Help these poor victims get justice. Just don't kill her. I'll handle the fallout."
Something dark awakened in the crowd.
Olivia saw the change in their eyes - the hunger, the cruelty. Her body trembled uncontrollably. She wanted to scream, but her ruined vocal cords betrayed her.
Outside, Isabella fought against three massive bodyguards, tears streaming down her face. The sounds from inside filled her with dread.
"Move!" she screamed, throwing herself at them.
They barely budged. "Save your energy. Miss Hartley's just teaching her a lesson."
Isabella gritted her teeth. "You're breaking the law! The police and the Clarkes are coming. Are you ready to face them?"
The guards exchanged amused glances. "And what will they do? She walked in here willingly. The cameras prove it."
A cold realization struck Isabella. She'd suspected Evelyn's motives but never imagined this level of cruelty. Why go so far when Olivia had already decided to move on from Liam?
