Chapter 280

Olivia was deep in thought when Donovan unexpectedly entered the room.

When Donovan saw Julian, his face momentarily darkened with irritation before quickly smoothing into his usual composed expression.

"Donovan!" Julian greeted with exaggerated enthusiasm.

Donovan merely nodded in response, his demeanor cool and detached.

His gaze shifted to Alistair and then to Olivia. Relief washed over him when he saw Olivia unharmed. The Kensingtons still valued their public image. Even if annoyed, they wouldn't dare harm Olivia with so many witnesses present.

A sincere smile brightened Donovan's handsome features as he carefully produced a medicine bottle. "Grandfather, I acquired this for you. Let the doctor examine it."

The attending physician gasped in surprise but quickly covered his mouth, realizing something.

Julian interjected, "Donovan, we truly are cousins. I didn't expect you'd also find this medicine and present it to our grandfather."

At Julian's words, Donovan glanced at the bottle in Winston's hand, his expression clouding slightly.

Julian continued, "Donovan, I recall mentioning this to you before. I know you have longstanding connections with the pharmaceutical company executives, and their headquarters are in Eldermere. I assumed you could obtain the medicine faster than me, so I held back. When I saw no action from you—likely due to your heavy workload—I took matters into my own hands. You don't think I'm trying to steal your credit, do you?"

Olivia noticed Donovan's chest rising and falling slightly. She felt puzzled.

Having encountered many people and detected much malice, Olivia could usually read situations instantly. She recognized Julian was setting a trap for Donovan.

But Donovan wasn't defenseless. He always countered arguments logically. His current silence suggested he simply didn't wish to engage with Julian.

Olivia struggled to understand. Julian and Donovan were cousins. Why was Julian making things so difficult? It was exhausting watching family members play games instead of being direct.

This realization only deepened Olivia's dislike for Julian.

Despite the faint smirk tugging at his lips, Julian maintained an air of feigned humility. His expression was so artfully crafted it made blaming him nearly impossible.

At that moment, Alistair cleared his throat. "Enough," he said, waving dismissively. "You both care deeply. There's no need to argue about who came first."

Alistair was gently urging them to drop their dispute.

But Julian seemed to miss the subtle hint.

A heavy silence settled over the room.
