Chapter 300

Julian Kensington's commanding voice cut through the tension, leaving the room in stunned silence.

Olivia Sinclair blinked in surprise at Julian's unexpected defense of her. This protective gesture caught her completely off guard.

A trembling maid stepped forward, her tear-streaked face turned toward Alistair Kensington. "Mr. Kensington," she whispered, "I think I saw who did it... but I'm terrified to speak."

Alistair's jaw tightened. "You have nothing to fear," he declared. "Speak the truth, and I'll ensure no harm comes to you. Seraphina is my granddaughter, and I will have justice."

His piercing gaze intensified as he added, "But mark my words - if you're lying, the consequences will be severe."

The maid bowed deeply, her shoulders shaking with quiet sobs before she straightened with newfound resolve.

After a tense pause, her nervous eyes scanned the crowd before landing on one person.

"It was her!" The maid's trembling finger pointed directly at Olivia.

Every head turned toward Olivia, whose shocked expression showed she was struggling to process the accusation.

Before Olivia could respond, Alistair's thunderous voice interrupted. "Preposterous! Olivia would never commit such an act!"

Julian's face darkened like a gathering storm. "I warned you about false accusations," he said with dangerous calm. "You'll regret this. Guards, take her to the authorities!"

The maid struggled against the restraining hands of security, crying out, "I'm not lying! I saw it clearly! That dress - it's unmistakable!"

Indeed, Olivia's gown was a one-of-a-kind creation that had turned heads all evening.

Yet the crowd remained doubtful. Who would be foolish enough to commit a crime while wearing such a distinctive outfit?

"Enough!" Julian snapped, his patience gone. "Remove her immediately."

The maid grew more desperate. "I swear it's true! Seraphina was by the lake when someone rushed up and pushed her in! I couldn't see the face, but that dress - it was exactly like hers!"

Her voice cracked as she added, "If it wasn't her, then someone must have been wearing an identical gown."

Olivia remained composed, using sign language to communicate her innocence. Her interpreter quickly translated: "I've worn this dress all evening and never removed it. I don't know if duplicates exist. I didn't push Seraphina - I wasn't even aware she was near the lake."

The sudden sound of approaching footsteps signaled the arrival of the police, called to investigate the disturbing incident.

Olivia exhaled quietly, relief washing over her at the prospect of professional intervention.
