Chapter 258

"That's just like Seraphina," Donovan remarked with a sigh. "She hasn't harmed Olivia yet, so let's not provoke her. If she realizes we're monitoring her, she might act recklessly. At any rate, she'll be leaving soon. Everything's been arranged. For now, focus on keeping Olivia safe."

No sooner had Donovan spoken than the butler entered, looking slightly flustered. "Mr. Kensington, Mrs. Blackwood has a visitor."

"Is it one of Olivia's friends? Did he identify himself?" Donovan inquired, his curiosity piqued.

The butler nodded. "He introduced himself as Liam Blackwood."

Donovan's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "What could he possibly want?" he muttered. "Does he question my arrangements, or is he planning to reveal something to Olivia?"

Donovan assumed Liam was the scoundrel who'd abandoned his pregnant wife for another woman.

While Donovan respected Liam's sharp business acumen and impressive achievements, he strongly disapproved of the man's personal choices.

His first instinct was to send Liam away immediately. Yet after a moment's consideration, he reconsidered.

"Ask Olivia if she wishes to see him. If she agrees, arrange a suitable meeting place."

"Right away, sir," the butler responded with a polite bow.

Olivia was taken aback when informed of Liam's unexpected visit. She'd assumed he would simply mail the divorce papers, never expecting him to appear in person. Was he here to witness her signing them himself? That must be it - he probably wanted to finalize their separation quickly so he could marry Evelyn without delay.

Olivia gave a firm nod. She too wanted closure on their unhappy marriage.

Five minutes later, Liam was escorted to her sitting room. He looked as striking as ever, his composed demeanor giving nothing away, his dark eyes as unreadable as always.

As Liam entered, Olivia rose gracefully and acknowledged him with a slight nod.

After their confrontation yesterday, she found herself surprisingly composed in his presence.

Approaching cautiously, Liam fought to conceal his inner turmoil, deliberately choosing a chair at a respectful distance.

"How's the baby? Everything progressing well?" Liam asked, his voice uncharacteristically gentle.

Olivia nodded, her hand instinctively moving to cradle her swelling belly. The tiny flutters and kicks had become more pronounced lately - a miraculous sensation that never failed to awe her.

Previously, she'd only seen her child during ultrasound appointments. Now she could feel every movement through her skin, a constant reminder of the life growing within her.

Liam's smile turned bittersweet as he clenched and unclenched his fists in quiet resignation.

"I know the child is mine. I was a fool before," Liam admitted.

Sebastian had revealed the entire truth to Liam after Olivia disappeared.

There had been a brief moment when Liam realized the baby Olivia carried was his. But fate intervened - he collapsed before making amends, that crucial memory erased by the drugs in his system.

Now that Liam had traced the source of the substances used against him, his enemies could no longer manipulate him with their chemical weapons.
