Chapter 486

The moment Liam Blackwood stepped out, a sharp knock resonated through the office door. Olivia Sinclair had already prepared a contingency plan. Though the director's assurances had sounded convincing, she remained unconvinced without tangible proof.

Her instincts told her this could either be someone playing games or a well-meaning acquaintance trying to help discreetly. The truth became clear when she learned Liam was the mysterious client requesting this meeting.

"Please, come in," Olivia said, straightening her posture. The door swung open to reveal a sharply dressed man carrying an antique folding fan that seemed oddly out of place in the modern office.

Alexander Montgomery offered a polite nod and a practiced smile. "Forgive my abruptness. My schedule is rather packed today. If we could proceed directly to business matters? Taking a seat would imply I'm staying for pleasantries, which wouldn't serve either of us well."

Olivia wasn't surprised by his bluntness. Her research had revealed Alexander came from Montgomery Jewelers, the most prestigious gemstone dynasty in Newport, possibly all of Eldermere. Their family controlled multiple mines and pearl fisheries across three continents.

For Sinclair Enterprises' future expansion, Olivia knew securing Alexander's favor was crucial.

Despite his refusal to sit, Olivia calmly poured him a cup of coffee. Something about her graceful movements caught Alexander's attention, his gaze lingering longer than intended.

"That aroma is exquisite," Alexander remarked, genuine appreciation coloring his tone. Olivia gestured invitingly. "Would you care for a taste?"

After a brief hesitation, Alexander took the seat opposite her. As they sipped the rich brew, the initial tension dissolved. "I wouldn't have pegged you as a coffee connoisseur," Alexander admitted with an appraising look. "Most heiresses wouldn't bother mastering such skills."

Rather than taking offense, Olivia reached into her designer bag and produced her certified barista credentials. Alexander choked slightly on his coffee.

"I lost my voice once," Olivia explained casually. "After recovering, I threw myself into every interest I'd neglected. This certification might seem trivial, but I hoped it might help break the ice today."

Alexander found himself both embarrassed and impressed by her candor. He shook his head with a wry smile.

"Our families have done business before, but Sinclair Enterprises' reputation has taken quite a hit recently. Frankly, most industry insiders are betting on your collapse."

Olivia nodded understandingly. "Your concerns are valid. But please review this first." She slid a design portfolio across the table.

Alexander's expression shifted from skepticism to genuine admiration as he examined the sketches. "This is remarkable work - lightyears beyond that plagiarism scandal." A shadow flickered through Olivia's eyes.
