Chapter 444

Oliver didn't know how to react when he saw Eleanor's eyes welling up with tears. "Please, don't cry," he murmured softly. "Just stay by his side. Love will come in time. You're an extraordinary woman, Eleanor. Half the men in Newport would give anything for your attention. I'm absolutely certain Liam will fall for you."

Eleanor's lips curved into a satisfied smile. "My brother made the right choice taking you under his wing. He funded your education and secured your position at Blackwood Enterprises. Though you couldn't repay him before his passing, helping me now honors his memory just the same."

Oliver dipped his head in agreement. "You have my word."

When Olivia returned home, she immediately began packing suitcases.

Isabelle watched with curious eyes. "Where are we going, Mommy?"

Olivia smiled as she folded a sweater. "How about a special adventure, just you and me? Would you like that, darling?"

Isabelle nodded eagerly, her little hands clutching her stuffed bunny. "Can Liam come too?"

The smile froze on Olivia's face, though her voice remained gentle. "Not this time, sweetheart. This is our mother-daughter trip. We'll have so much fun together, and we'll be back before you know it." She crouched to meet Isabelle's eyes. "Liam has someone special in his life now. Let's not bother them, okay?"

Isabelle's lower lip trembled slightly. "But Liam told me he doesn't have a girlfriend."

Olivia smoothed her daughter's hair with infinite patience. "Whether he does or doesn't, that's not our concern anymore. You wouldn't want to make him uncomfortable, would you?"

The little girl twisted the hem of her dress. "I don't want anyone to be sad."

Olivia gave Isabelle's cheek an affectionate pinch. "Do you remember what we just talked about?"

Isabelle nodded solemnly. "Yes, Mommy. I remember."

At that moment, Winston entered with a worried expression.

"Miss Sinclair, is this sudden departure truly necessary? Perhaps you should rest first before traveling? We still don't know the full effects of that medication in your system. Leaving now could be dangerous."

He continued earnestly, "After your recent illness, you should either see a doctor or return to the Kensington estate. At least there you'd have proper medical support if anything happens."

Olivia shook her head firmly. "Winston, I feel perfectly fine now. More importantly, I need to settle this matter quickly. I refuse to owe anyone anything—it only leads to complications later." Though she didn't elaborate, Winston suspected this involved Liam's recent stay.

Seeing her resolve, Winston stopped protesting. Instead, he made a firm request. "Then at least allow me to accompany you."

Olivia hesitated, but Winston persisted.

"Miss Sinclair, I know you worry about my age, but please—let me come. I can tell you've discovered something about your grandfather's disappearance. You wouldn't be rushing off otherwise." His voice grew more insistent. "I won't rest unless I'm by your side. Perhaps we'll find some trace of him during our travels."

Moved by his devotion, Olivia finally relented. "Alright, pack your things. We leave tonight."

"Very good, Miss."
